Ravens and Spring
At the beginning of lockdown, on a walk, three Ravens flew above me, over the trees by a quiet cove. Two weeks prior, I had written a poem called “Ravens & Spring”. A fortnight on, and here were my Ravens.
I am touched by the difficulty of many at this time, how death hovers over some and at the same moment I notice nature becoming more abundant, innovations emerging, the increase of compassion amongst others, and how nature speaks to us and consoles, brings us hope, renewal.
Ravens & Spring
One, Two, Three
Three Ravens
And as black feathers come to greet me, I see nature being restored.
This Spring is different
A shock of new
Like a newborn come quickly,
And on this day
Her birth
Big birds now glide over quiet roads
Flowers, tendrils, uncurling shoots
Being nurtured by the gentle dew and early sun.
One, Two, Three
Three Ravens
Nature has space now
The birds, the trees, the plants and the people.
